A collision led to Corintho getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Teodoro Massa hit a great ball. With an all-out effort, Falcao's Nildo Silva threw himself towards the right post 6 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from João Pedro Favoretto, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 13 minutes into the game, Murillo Simões was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corintho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Falcao the free kick. After 13 played minutes Corintho got a freekick which was hit by Murillo Simões. The audience was convinced that João Pedro Favoretto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nildo Silva was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. In the 18th minute, João Pedro Favoretto fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Nildo Silva, passed just outside the right post. If Luiz Guilherme Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 21st minute by João Augusto Montenegro got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 25 minutes into the match, Corintho's goalkeeper Nildo Silva had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Augusto Montenegro. In the 25th minute, Teodoro Massa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Christian Linhares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Nildo Silva managed to avoid a goal in the 39thth minute, when Falcao's João Augusto Montenegro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 40 played minutes Falcao got a freekick which was hit by Vladimir Branco. In the 46th minute, Falcao's João Pedro Favoretto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nildo Silva. Nildo Silva yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Pedro Favoretto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes into the match, Corintho's goal looked a bit too open when João Pedro Favoretto came free, but Nildo Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Perivaldo Passos made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Luiz Guilherme Santana sent off a good shot on target. João Augusto Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nildo Silva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. João Augusto Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Pedro Favoretto in the 71st minute of play forced Corintho's goalkeeper Nildo Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Falcao's zone, Christian Linhares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Perivaldo Passos came out of the goal and Christian Linhares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Falcao getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. João Carlos Matos hit a great ball. In the 78th minute, Luiz Guilherme Santana made a precise shot to the right of Perivaldo Passos. Falcao's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. João Pedro Favoretto took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nildo Silva. Nildo Silva dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christian Linhares in the 86th minute of play forced Falcao's goalkeeper Perivaldo Passos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Augusto Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Despite being the better team, Falcao failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
