The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Arí de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eugênio Sampaio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronaldo de Queirós read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Itaiba SS's goalkeeper Ronaldo de Queirós had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gualter da Mata. After a defensive mix-up in Itaiba SS's zone, Eugênio Sampaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldo de Queirós came out of the goal and Eugênio Sampaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hélder Alvarenga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caio Sena in the 31st minute of the match. After 35 minutes, Arí de Queiroz made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Baiepau AD's Hélder Alvarenga tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Percival Sá sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Baiepau AD's Hélder Alvarenga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arí de Queiroz in the 41st minute of play. If Caio Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Arí de Queiroz made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Baiepau AD's zone, Caio Sena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélder Alvarenga came out of the goal and Caio Sena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Eugênio Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Baiepau AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Eugênio Sampaio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronaldo de Queirós breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gualter da Mata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Ronaldo de Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Itaiba SS's Arí de Queiroz got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arí de Queiroz in the 71st minute of play forced Baiepau AD's goalkeeper Hélder Alvarenga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th minute, Gualter da Mata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dráusio Sabóia during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Itaiba SS booed when Baiepau AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dráusio Sabóia didn't get a good kick on the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Baiepau AD's goal looked a bit too open when Arí de Queiroz came free, but Hélder Alvarenga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Itaiba SS's Percival Sá got a free kick in the 86th minute. Alfredinho Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Itaiba SS had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
