A collision led to Fervedouro getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Norberto Pires hit a great ball. Dadá Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustão Catarinense having to interfere. Faustão Catarinense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dadá Coelho's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Dadá Coelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dadá Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustão Catarinense having to interfere. After 25th play minutes Dadá Coelho shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Faustão Catarinense and just under the crossbar into goal. Vitório Trigo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 31 played minutes Fervedouro got a freekick which was hit by Valdir Matorin. In the 36th minute, Antônio Carlos Souza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Faustão Catarinense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antônio Carlos Souza in the 39th minute of the match. Faustão Catarinense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Eurico Portos short, quick shot in the 49thth minute got Dudu de Amorim to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The Caete players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Fervedouro were winning 0-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vitório Trigo to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes, Fervedouro's Sílvio Luiz Jacinto shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Faustão Catarinense came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fervedouro reached it. The audience was convinced that Vitório Trigo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dudu de Amorim was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Antônio Carlos Souza kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Faustão Catarinense. That made the score 0-2 in the 65 minute of play. Eurico Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dudu de Amorim having to interfere. Vitório Trigo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dadá Coelho might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Faustão Catarinense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dadá Coelho ran back to his position shaking his head. Vitório Trigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dudu de Amorim having to interfere. Eurico Porto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eurico Porto scored 1-2 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dudu de Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dudu de Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eurico Porto in the 96th minute of the match. The Fervedouro supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Fervedouro would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
