Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Vitório Trigo started the match with the kick off. 0-1 became the score in the 9th minute when Caetano de Azevedo elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Caete's Eurico Porto came free and shot a quick shot against goal 15 minutes in the game, fortunately Haroldo Mineiro had problems saving as it came toward the left post. In the 16th minute, Márcio Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Haroldo Mineiro was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Alberto Fernandes. Adriano Hoffmann took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Faustão Catarinense. Caete's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Adriano Hoffmann's late challenge caught a Caete's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adriano Hoffmann helped the player get up and apologised. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vitório Trigo in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Haroldo Mineiro saved Urucuri from getting behind. In the 30th match minute, Urucuri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rony Pitta to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd minute, Armandinho Vander hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Caete getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Ciro Secco hit a great ball. In the 39th minute of the match Luiz Eduardo Gaúcho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Faustão Catarinense showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Caete's zone, Caetano de Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Faustão Catarinense came out of the goal and Caetano de Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Faustão Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caetano de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Faustão Catarinense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caetano de Azevedo in the 45th minute of the match. If Eurico Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Caetano de Azevedo made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Caete's zone, Caetano de Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Faustão Catarinense came out of the goal and Caetano de Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Vitório Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Caetano de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Haroldo Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitório Trigo in the 70th minute of play. Arlindo Teles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Haroldo Mineiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vitório Trigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arlindo Teles might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Faustão Catarinense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arlindo Teles ran back to his position shaking his head. Armandinho Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Urucuri's Haroldo Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitório Trigo in the 92nd minute of play. After having played for 95 minutes, Carlos Alberto Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caete's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Alberto Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Haroldo Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitório Trigo in the 97th minute of play. Urucuri's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
