He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Vasto SS reached it. A collision led to Contao SC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Faustão Nóbrega hit a great ball. Elano Ceresso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14thth minute of the game Genílson Galvão who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Contao SC's André Luís Cerezo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Vasto SS booed when Contao SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wágner Bezerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Luís Cerezo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elano Ceresso, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Genílson Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Pedro Paulo Tepedino managed to avoid a goal in the 25thth minute, when Contao SC's André Freire fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Contao SC's André Luís Cerezo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elano Ceresso in the 27th minute of play. André Luís Cerezo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elano Ceresso in the 28th minute of play. Faustão Nóbrega hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After 31 played minutes Contao SC got a freekick which was hit by Faustão Nóbrega. Genílson Galvão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Luís Cerezo having to interfere. If Genílson Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Waldir Guerra in the 46th minute of play forced Vasto SS's goalkeeper Pedro Paulo Tepedino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 48 minutes into the match, Genílson Galvão had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of André Luís Cerezo. Contao SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Genílson Galvão was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Waldir Guerra made a kick off. Pedro Paulo Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waldir Guerra in the 55th minute of play. After 56 played minutes Contao SC got a freekick which was hit by Agostinho de Carvalho. The supporters of Vasto SS booed when Contao SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Faustão Nóbrega didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Waldir Guerra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Contao SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Waldir Guerra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Paulo Tepedino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. André Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Genílson Galvão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. André Luís Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elano Ceresso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but André Luís Cerezo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronaldão Martins during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience was convinced that Waldir Guerra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pedro Paulo Tepedino was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. Sidnei Xavier charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sidnei Xavier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. César Campidelis walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. André Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Paulo Tepedino having to interfere. Juninho Vides hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. In the 97th minute, Waldir Guerra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Contao SC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Vasto SS's performance. The match ended with a win for Vasto SS.
