In the 8th minute of the match Jânio Pereira sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but André Urbano skillfully saved the ball. The Guary SS fans' excitement grew in the 9th match minute when Guary SS's Tiago Pinheiro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tiago Pinheiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 16 minutes, Kiko Sampaio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guary SS and the Laranjinha players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Laranjinha booed when Guary SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kiko Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Urbano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lúcio Queirós in the 21st minute of the match. Wellington da Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alessandro Pinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wellington da Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. If Lúcio Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Didi Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Urbano having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Didi Amorim was the one to do the kick off. Laranjinha's Didi Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lúcio Queirós got free with André Urbano in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Guary SS's André Urbano got control of the ball when Lúcio Queirós tried to sneak it across the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Lúcio Queirós had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of André Urbano. Guary SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lúcio Queirós was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Wellington da Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Alessandro Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wellington da Costa scored 2-1 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alessandro Pinho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lúcio Queirós struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. André Urbano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Laranjinha. Tiago Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Alessandro Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wellington da Costa struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Alessandro Pinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guary SS. After having played for 90 minutes, Lúcio Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Laranjinha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lúcio Queirós was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paulo Dante could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but André Urbano made a huge save. Guary SS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
