Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jarbas Pitta took the kick off in the first half of the match. Sidnei Coutinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mazinho Furtado during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 10 played minutes Caraibeiras got a freekick which was hit by Mazinho Furtado. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jarbas Pitta in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erasmo Tavares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Meirelles in the 13th minute of play forced Caraibeiras's goalkeeper Erasmo Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 17 minutes, Zeca Paiva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tormenta and the Caraibeiras players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 17 played minutes Tormenta got a freekick which was hit by Zeca Paiva. In the 17th minute, Benjamin Coutinho sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Tormenta's Edinho Pombal didn't even have to move. Sidnei Coutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edinho Pombal having to interfere. Edinho Pombal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sidnei Coutinho in the 24th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Tormenta defense, Genílson Xavier kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edinho Pombal. The Tormenta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edinho Pombal should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Genílson Xavier got free with Edinho Pombal in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 37 minutes into the match, Rodolfo Meirelles notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Caraibeiras's Erasmo Tavares. Erasmo Tavares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Jarbas Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jarbas Pitta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Rodolfo Meirelles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Erasmo Tavares was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sidnei Coutinho was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Tormenta's zone, Mazinho Furtado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edinho Pombal came out of the goal and Mazinho Furtado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edinho Pombal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genílson Xavier in the 64th minute of play. Jarbas Pitta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erasmo Tavares having to interfere. Rodolfo Meirelles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erasmo Tavares having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 81 minutes into the game, when Rony Fernandez put in a rough tackle. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidnei Coutinho in the 86th minute of play forced Tormenta's goalkeeper Edinho Pombal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th minute Sidnei Coutinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edinho Pombal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edinho Pombal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sidnei Coutinho went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Gildo Nogueira hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. After 96 played minutes Caraibeiras got a freekick which was hit by Mazinho Furtado. The corner led to Tormenta's Rodolfo Meirelles getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Tormenta's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
