Cerejeira FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilson Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leonel Massa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Oswaldo Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. Chicão Gerber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Quadros, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Leonel Massa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oswaldo Medeiros in the 32nd minute of the match. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Delfim Antunes sped through Cerejeira FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Chicão Gerber. Leonel Massa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oswaldo Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The Cerejeira FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Marapanim were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Delfim Antunes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Adrianinho Dante charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adrianinho Dante the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 53rd match minute, Marapanim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Delfim Antunes to maneuver through the defense. Marapanim's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cerejeira FC the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oswaldo Medeiros in the 75th minute of play forced Marapanim's goalkeeper Leonel Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 85 minutes, Oswaldo Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cerejeira FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oswaldo Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Emílio Saldanha hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Oswaldo Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot.
