In the 8th minute Rafinha Prata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelinho Sarmento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valdo Mello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Fontes in the 15th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodriguinho Pombal got free with Marcelinho Sarmento in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. André da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdo Mello having to interfere. Valdo Mello stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of André da Rocha's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. If Rafinha Prata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodriguinho Pombal might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcelinho Sarmento. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodriguinho Pombal ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, Rebentao's Marcelinho Sarmento threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rafinha Prata, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 38 minutes of play, Itaberai SC's Claudinho Fontes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valdo Mello was left in no man's land by his defense there! Renatinho do Nascimento kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. If Rodriguinho Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Claudinho Fontes was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafinha Prata in the 52nd minute of play forced Itaberai SC's goalkeeper Marcelinho Sarmento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Itaberai SC's Marcelinho Sarmento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafinha Prata in the 62nd minute of play. After 66 played minutes Itaberai SC got a freekick which was hit by Giovanni Zonta. In the 68th minute of the match Marcinho Sabóia shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcelinho Sarmento showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 78th minute of the match Marcinho Sabóia sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcelinho Sarmento skillfully saved the ball. When Rodriguinho Pombal came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Rebentao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rodriguinho Pombal couldn't finish the play. Marcelinho Sarmento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafinha Prata in the 83rd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Rodriguinho Pombal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcelinho Sarmento was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. If Rodriguinho Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
