Bury's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Sucatinga booed when Bury was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matías Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Bury's goalkeeper Nilton Linhares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bury's Nilton Linhares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donato Coutinho in the 32nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Donato Coutinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nilton Linhares was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. In the 47th minute, one of Bury:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Bury. The goalkeeper, Nilton Linhares, was totally fooled by Sucatinga's Carlos Eduardo Freitas, who 48 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Donato Coutinho was the one to do the kick off. Vitinho Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Délio Abreu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nilton Linhares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sabino da Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Donato Coutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilton Linhares having to interfere. Sucatinga's Sabino da Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vitinho Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Délio Abreu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nilton Linhares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sabino da Silveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Nilton Linhares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sabino da Silveira in the 73rd minute of the match. After 81 played minutes Bury got a freekick which was hit by João Francisco Couto. Matías Netto charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Matías Netto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Bury's Matías Netto got a free kick in the 97th minute. In the 98th minute, Sabino da Silveira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Matías Netto was shown his second yellow card after 99 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 100th minute, Matías Netto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
