Délio Abreu was out of position in the 3 minute of play, and Eurico Mazza capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Eurico Mazza really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. If Donato Coutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the game, Donato Coutinho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sucatinga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nhandutiba the free kick. Donato Coutinho hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Eurico Mazza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Délio Abreu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. After 15 played minutes Sucatinga got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Seco. Umberto Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Coutinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After 25 played minutes Nhandutiba got a freekick which was hit by Samuel Costa. Umberto Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donato Coutinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Umberto Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Coutinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. When Sabino da Silveira came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Sucatinga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sabino da Silveira couldn't finish the play. César Koehler's late challenge caught a Sucatinga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. César Koehler helped the player get up and apologised. After 44 played minutes Nhandutiba got a freekick which was hit by César Koehler. Umberto Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sabino da Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Nhandutiba's Umberto Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donato Coutinho in the 57th minute of play. Sucatinga's Sabino da Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Hélio Vides managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nhandutiba's supporters rose to their feet, but Hélio Vides was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Délio Abreu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eurico Mazza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Délio Abreu having to interfere. Sabino da Silveira might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Umberto Souza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sabino da Silveira ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Nhandutiba getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Telmo Sarmento hit a great ball. Samuel Costa hit a great ball. 83 minutes into the match, Nhandutiba's goalkeeper Umberto Souza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sabino da Silveira. Donato Coutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Umberto Souza having to interfere. After 88 played minutes Sucatinga got a freekick which was hit by Franklin Mumbach. Umberto Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donato Coutinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sucatinga's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
