The supporters of Mutari booed when Carajari was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otávio de Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Cardozo in the 36th minute of play forced Mutari's goalkeeper Edmílson Queiroz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Nuno Vieira came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Mutari fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Vieira couldn't finish the play. Edmílson Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Cardozo in the 43rd minute of play. Frank Cardozo scored 1-1 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edmílson Queiroz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carajari's goalkeeper Enrique Corrêa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Delfim Albuquerque kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Nuno Vieira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enrique Corrêa having to interfere. In the 87th minute, Frank Cardozo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
