The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Didi Vides didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 3rd minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Esteio's Didi Vides played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Gustavo Antunes in the 6th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Tarcisio Xavier's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Didi Vides was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. After some careless play in the Esteio defense, Luís Gustavo Antunes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Didi Vides. The Esteio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Didi Vides should have stopped the shot. In the 13th minute, Esteio's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Luís Gustavo Antunes fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 18 minutes into the game, Romeu das Neves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Candido EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esteio the free kick. Tião Arósio kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Luís Gustavo Antunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Gustavo Antunes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 33 minutes into the game, Tião Arósio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Esteio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Candido EC the free kick. In the 33rd match minute, Esteio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tião Arósio to maneuver through the defense. Didi Vides took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tarcisio Xavier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute, Luís Gustavo Antunes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Didi Vides was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Armando Mattos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 44 minutes into the match, Candido EC's Tarcisio Xavier sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Didi Vides narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The wind increased when Tião Arósio made the kick off in the second half. Didi Vides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tarcisio Xavier in the 56th minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, Patrick Loureiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Esteio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Candido EC the free kick. Patrick Loureiro hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. 63 minutes into the game, Candido EC's Luís Gustavo Antunes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Didi Vides made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. 69 minutes into the match, Esteio's Jorge Nascimento sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Váldson Peres narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jorge Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Váldson Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Esteio booed when Candido EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armando Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. 78 minutes into the match, Esteio's Tião Arósio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Váldson Peres narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Patrick Loureiro kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. In the 82nd minute of the match Adelino da Cunha sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Didi Vides skillfully saved the ball. 85 minutes into the match, Candido EC's goalkeeper Váldson Peres had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jorge Nascimento. Esteio's Patrick Loureiro got his second yellow card of the match in the 92nd minute. The referee ordered Patrick Loureiro off the ground. In the 93rd match minute, Esteio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrick Loureiro to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Candido EC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Esteio had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
