After a defensive mix-up in Ipoeiras's zone, Percival Leite stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juninho de Brito came out of the goal and Percival Leite tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Tião Prata's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juninho de Brito was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Ipoeiras's Ronaldinho Brodel got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ronaldinho Brodel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tales Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Adolfo França having to interfere.
