Bauru FC's Carlos Mello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dionísio Neto in the 21st minute of play. Kléber Soares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but João Augusto de Queirós made a huge save. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dionísio Neto to make the kick off.
