Roberto da Cunha didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Sucuarana's Nilson Figueiredo shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-0 in the ordered_time% minute. After having played for 24 minutes, Nilson Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sucuarana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nilson Figueiredo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Quinzinho's Roberto da Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernani Eger in the 26th minute of play. If Luís Gustavo Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Quinzinho booed when Sucuarana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aírton Lopez didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Quinzinho defense, Nilson Figueiredo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Roberto da Cunha. The Quinzinho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roberto da Cunha should have stopped the shot. In the 42nd minute, Paulo Renato Barros made a precise shot to the right of Narciso Trancoso. Sucuarana's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. After a rather tough play, Quinzinho's Evandro Cruz got a free kick in the 46th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Paulo Renato Barros might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Narciso Trancoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paulo Renato Barros ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Sucuarana getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Abel de Queirós hit a great ball. In the 57th minute of the match Fábio Sá sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Narciso Trancoso skillfully saved the ball. Paulo Renato Barros took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Narciso Trancoso. Narciso Trancoso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. After a rather tough play, Quinzinho's Cido Romero got a free kick in the 78th minute. Narciso Trancoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evandro Cruz in the 81st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nilson Figueiredo in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roberto da Cunha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Abel de Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 98 minutes, Luís Gustavo Ferreira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quinzinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Gustavo Ferreira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
