Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Serginho Fontes got the match started through his kick off. Reginaldo Zonta took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Charles Motta. Catajal's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Charles Motta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serginho Fontes, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Charles Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from William Rezende, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Merces's zone, Joélson de Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eliseu Romero came out of the goal and Joélson de Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mário Corrêa got free with Eliseu Romero in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Mário Corrêa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catajal's supporters rose to their feet, but Mário Corrêa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eliseu Romero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Serginho Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Serginho Fontes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 29th minute there was a penalty for Catajal. Gildo Queiroz stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Eliseu Romero. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joélson de Queiroz in the 32nd minute of play forced Merces's goalkeeper Eliseu Romero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Merces fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 33rd minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 35 minutes, Catajal's Gildo Queiroz got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Eliseu Romero. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joélson de Queiroz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Joélson de Queiroz came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Catajal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joélson de Queiroz couldn't finish the play. Charles Motta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serginho Fontes in the 60th minute of play. Catajal's Charles Motta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Catajal from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Walmir Pirani during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Walmir Pirani hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Serginho Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. William Rezendes short, quick shot in the 66thth minute got Charles Motta to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Merces's William Rezende got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Catajal's zone, Acácio Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Motta came out of the goal and Acácio Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Serginho Fontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles Motta having to interfere. Charles Motta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serginho Fontes in the 90th minute of the match. Catajal's Charles Motta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Catajal from getting a goal against them. Mário Corrêa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Eliseu Romero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Merces's Eliseu Romero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joélson de Queiroz in the 95th minute of play. Catajal were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Merces for a fine match.
