The audience thought a goal was coming when Eugênio Tepedino got free with Edgard Simões in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eugênio Tepedino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edgard Simões having to interfere. Vito Ramalho was extremely unlucky when he, in the 72nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 77th minute, Víktor Carioca made a precise shot to the right of Charles Eger. Pune's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. If Eugênio Tepedino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. Vito Ramalho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Edgard Simões made a huge save. 88 minutes into the match, Pune's goal looked a bit too open when Willian Mesquita came free, but Charles Eger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgard Simões stood somewhat misplaced when Eugênio Tepedino came free in front of goal and shot 1-3 to the left of him in the 96 minute. The Pune supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Pune would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
