David Ribeiro started the match with the kick off. Edmundo Rossi's late challenge caught a Rufinos EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edmundo Rossi helped the player get up and apologised. Frédson Dias made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Fellipe Loyola sent off a good shot on target. Fellipe Loyola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frédson Dias having to interfere. 12 minutes into the game, Capivara's João Adolfo Leão nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Orlando Freire made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. If Fellipe Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Adolfo Leão in the 19th minute of play forced Rufinos EC's goalkeeper Orlando Freire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Rufinos EC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Davi Tasso hit a great ball. In the 25th match minute, Rufinos EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natã Cordeiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 26thth minute of the game Waldir de Souza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rufinos EC's Orlando Freire was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fellipe Loyola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and João Adolfo Leão made a kick off. Waldir de Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Though ot was a great shot Rufinos EC's keeper Orlando Freire was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. João Adolfo Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orlando Freire having to interfere. 0-3 became the score in the 71st minute when João Adolfo Leão elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Frédson Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Ribeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Fellipe Loyola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Fred Berger fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Capivara's protests and gave Fred Berger a yellow card for diving instead. Fred Berger hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute, one of Capivara:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Capivara. The referee gave Rufinos EC a penalty, 87 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Olívio Linhares, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Capivara's Frédson Dias. 1-3. 91 minutes into the game, one of Rufinos EC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Orlando Freire went to the wrong direction when Júnior de Queiroz was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 99th minute, Waldir de Souza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Capivara fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Capivara eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
