Júlio Neves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Orlando Freire made a huge save. Rufinos EC's Orlando Freire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waldir Gomes in the 16th minute of play. If Júlio Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the match, Cumanda's José Maria Leão broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Júlio Neves got free with Orlando Freire in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rufinos EC's Orlando Freire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waldir Gomes in the 30th minute of play. If Júlio Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Rufinos EC's Orlando Freire got control of the ball when Waldir Gomes tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Cumanda booed when Rufinos EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doriva Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when David Ribeiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cumanda's supporters crossed their fingers, but Waldir Gomes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Cumanda booed when Rufinos EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramiro Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Júlio Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júlio Neves in the 84th minute of play forced Rufinos EC's goalkeeper Orlando Freire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Waldir Gomes in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Orlando Freire saved Rufinos EC from getting behind. Waldir Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Orlando Freire tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Júlio Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Orlando Freire took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldir Gomes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Orlando Freire showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Waldir Gomes in the 98th minute of the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Cumanda players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
