Zézinho Ceresso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but João Paulo Alves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 18 minutes into the match, Carandahy FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jarbas Nóbrega came free, but Silvinho Breckenfeld reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute, Alfredo Borges got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zézinho Ceresso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Silvinho Breckenfeld took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jarbas Nóbrega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jarbas Nóbrega sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Junqueira booed when Carandahy FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramiro Goiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Carandahy FC's Durval Coutinho got a free kick in the 39th minute. The referee gave Junqueira a penalty, 42 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Giovani Diniz, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Carandahy FC's Silvinho Breckenfeld. 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zézinho Ceresso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Léo Barral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Junqueira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carandahy FC the free kick. Léo Barral hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Silvinho Breckenfeld made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alfredo Borges in the 56th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zézinho Ceresso in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Paulo Alves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Geovânio Marinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Silvinho Breckenfeld made a huge save. If Ismael Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silas Abraão struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. João Paulo Alves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carandahy FC. Ismael Ribeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Paulo Alves having to interfere. In the 85th minute Zézinho Ceresso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Paulo Alves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Carandahy FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Junqueira had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
