A very good chance. 11 minutes into the match, Paraguai FC's Tostão de Alcântara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lúcio Peixoto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Manuel Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristóvão Cearense hit a great ball. Nilton Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Márcio dos Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Márcio dos Santos came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Piratini AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Márcio dos Santos couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Márcio dos Santos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nilton Correia was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Tostão de Alcântara struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Lúcio Peixoto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguai FC. After 42 played minutes Piratini AD got a freekick which was hit by Geovani Teixeira. In the 43rd minute, Tostão de Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tostão de Alcântara who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 45thth minute tested the skills of Lúcio Peixoto when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 47 minutes into the match, Paraguai FC's goal looked a bit too open when Márcio dos Santos came free, but Nilton Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The wind increased when Armandinho Pombal made the kick off in the second half. Umberto Catarinense kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. 55 minutes in the game Marcos Faustino after having made a beautiful turn got a great opportunity to score and fired away a shot that went just to the left past a relieved Nilton Correia. A very good opportunity. The supporters of Paraguai FC booed when Piratini AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. When Geovani Teixeira came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Piratini AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geovani Teixeira couldn't finish the play.
