The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aloísio Peres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elivélton Vasconcelos having to interfere. 9 minutes into the match, Bacuriti's Hortêncio Lopez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Felipe Matorin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Aloísio Peres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felipe Matorin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hortêncio Lopez in the 16th minute of the match. If Hortêncio Lopez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 20 played minutes Capibaribe got a freekick which was hit by Raí Silva. In the 25th minute of the match Mauro Ortiz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elivélton Vasconcelos skillfully saved the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ian de Almeida during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for José Carlos de Barros to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute José Carlos de Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elivélton Vasconcelos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Bacuriti booed when Capibaribe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcinho Araújo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 57 minutes of play, Bacuriti's Hortêncio Lopez made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Felipe Matorin was left in no man's land by his defense there! Elivélton Vasconcelos was out of position in the 63 minute of play, and José Carlos de Barros capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. José Carlos de Barros really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. José Carlos de Barros received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Elivélton Vasconcelos came out and tried to block the shot, but José Carlos de Barros slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 70th minute. Felipe Matorin came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Bacuriti's Zé Roberto Marques. But to his dismay, Zé Roberto Marques quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. In the 80th minute Hortêncio Lopez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Felipe Matorin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Aloísio Peres managed to get in a good position for a shot. Capibaribe's supporters rose to their feet, but Aloísio Peres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elivélton Vasconcelos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 91st minute, Aloísio Peres fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Elivélton Vasconcelos, passed just outside the right post. After a defensive mix-up in Bacuriti's zone, José Carlos de Barros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elivélton Vasconcelos came out of the goal and José Carlos de Barros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Felipe Matorin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Roberto Marques in the 94th minute of play. The Bacuriti fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Capibaribe were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
