Marcelinho Rezende was slow to take the kick. During this time Tapuias's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Mazinho Rosa got away a dangerous shot. Despite this João Paulo Leão quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With splendid footwork Mazinho Rosa arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-0 by the left pole in the game's 8th minute. 11 minutes into the game, Faustão da Silveira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tapuias's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Troia the free kick. Faustão da Silveira hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. João Paulo Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mazinho Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. A collision led to Tapuias getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Mazinho Rosa hit a great ball. Pedro Luís Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Augusto Antunes having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Pedro Luís Leite got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. João Paulo Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mazinho Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 38th minute, Marcelinho Rezende fired a really elegant long shot, but João Paulo Leão threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Elder Valadares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Paulo Leão having to interfere. Mazinho Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. João Paulo Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Mazinho Rosa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving João Paulo Leão. That made the score 2-0 in the 47 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mazinho Rosa made a kick off. Mazinho Rosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mazinho Rosa during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 61 minutes into the game, Pedro Luís Leite was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Troia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tapuias the free kick. After 62 played minutes Troia got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Luís Leite. Carlos Augusto Antunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Luís Leite in the 71st minute of the match. Elder Valadares struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. João Paulo Leão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tapuias. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Luís Leite in the 80th minute of play forced Tapuias's goalkeeper Carlos Augusto Antunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 85 minutes into the match, Troia's goal looked a bit too open when Elder Valadares came free, but João Paulo Leão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Tapuias's Erik Cruz got a free kick in the 89th minute. In the 91st minute of the match Dionísio Secco sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Augusto Antunes skillfully saved the ball. Célio Fernandez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Augusto Antunes having to interfere. Tapuias's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
