Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jefferson Meirelles got the match started through his kick off. After 2 minutes of play, Tapuias's Mazinho Rosa made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christiano Teles was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by César Teixeira during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Elder Valadares came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Tapuias fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elder Valadares couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Franca AD getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. César Teixeira hit a great ball. Wilian Coelho kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Elder Valadares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christiano Teles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Mazinho Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 25 minutes into the match, Mazinho Rosa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christiano Teles. Franca AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mazinho Rosa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Jefferson Meirelles blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Augusto Antunes having to make a save. Mazinho Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Christiano Teles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Franca AD's zone, Elder Valadares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christiano Teles came out of the goal and Elder Valadares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mazinho Rosa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Faustão da Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 53 played minutes, Franca AD's Agostinho Fontes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Carlos Augusto Antunes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Franca AD reached it. Christiano Teles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mazinho Rosa in the 57th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jefferson Meirelles in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Augusto Antunes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 62nd minute, Tião da Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Umberto Cosme in the 63rd minute of play forced Tapuias's goalkeeper Carlos Augusto Antunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 69 minutes, Elder Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tapuias's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elder Valadares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
