The audience thought a goal was coming when Dráusio Mendes got free with Sílvio Luís Travassos in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 12th minute Claudinei Sampaio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Luís Travassos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Taquarembo's Osvaldo Barreto in 17 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Patrício Queirós guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Víktor Brito got his second yellow card in the match during the 21st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Víktor Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Donato Esteves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Patrício Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Coadi defense, Donato Esteves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Patrício Queirós. The Coadi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patrício Queirós should have stopped the shot. 35 minutes into the match, Coadi's goal looked a bit too open when Donato Esteves came free, but Patrício Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Claudinei Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Luís Travassos having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Coadi's Claudinei Sampaio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sílvio Luís Travassos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 44 minutes, Dráusio Mendes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Coadi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dráusio Mendes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudinei Sampaio to make the kick off. If Dráusio Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Claudinei Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Coadi's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudinei Sampaio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sílvio Luís Travassos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sílvio Luís Travassos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dráusio Mendes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Claudinei Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd minute, Osvaldo Barreto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Taquarembo's zone, Dráusio Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sílvio Luís Travassos came out of the goal and Dráusio Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 80thth minute of the game Claudinei Sampaio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Taquarembo's Sílvio Luís Travassos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Osvaldo Barreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Patrício Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Dráusio Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute, Osvaldo Barreto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Claudinei Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Coadi supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Taquarembo's performance. The match ended with a win for Taquarembo.
