In the 3rd minute, Are EC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Samuca Paranaense fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 10th minute, Ricardinho Lopez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Renatinho da Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Are EC booed when Bolivia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sílvio Luiz Silveira didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Carlos Lara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raí Barros in the 23rd minute of the match. Sílvio Luiz Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laércio Diniz having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rômulo Rezende in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Laércio Diniz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 31st minute of the match, Rômulo Rezende tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Laércio Diniz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Sílvio Luiz Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Samuca Paranaense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44thth minute of the game Rômulo Rezende who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Are EC's Laércio Diniz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sílvio Luiz Silveira during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 46th match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Luiz Silveira to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Rômulo Rezende made the kick off in the second half. Samuca Paranaense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 54 minutes, Antônio Gonçalves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Are EC and the Bolivia players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 71st minute Renatinho da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Carlos Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Samuca Paranaense came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Bolivia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuca Paranaense couldn't finish the play. Samuca Paranaense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laércio Diniz having to interfere. Renatinho da Fonseca's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but João Carlos Lara read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. In the 96th minute Are EC were awarded a corner. Aílton Santos went to the cornerflag to take it. Are EC's Aílton Santos was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but João Carlos Lara in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. There was no doubt that Bolivia were the better team. Bolivia's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
