In the 14th minute, one of Canche EC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Canche EC. When the match had been going on for 16 minutes, Are EC's Aílton Santos got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Luís Fábio Souto. Raí Barros in the 19thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Luís Fábio Souto, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 20th minute, Dionísio Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Canche EC's goal looked a bit too open when Renatinho da Fonseca came free, but Luís Fábio Souto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Renatinho da Fonseca to make the kick off. João Adolfo Vander charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Dionísio Nascimento's late challenge caught a Are EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luís Fábio Souto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Are EC's Antônio Gonçalves got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Are EC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
