After a defensive mix-up in Itajuby's zone, Beto Moraes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabiano Figueiredo came out of the goal and Beto Moraes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fabiano Figueiredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lúcio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Itajuby's Fabiano Figueiredo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lúcio Costa in the 15th minute of play. The supporters of Saboia booed when Itajuby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlio Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute of the match Maurício Severo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Willian Trigo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Itajuby's Kléberson Castro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Willian Trigo. That made the score 1-1 after 34 minutes of play. If Lúcio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Júlio Mendonça hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Lúcio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kléberson Castro might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Willian Trigo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kléberson Castro ran back to his position shaking his head. The attack was good, but when Ricardinho Barreto in the 48th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernão Arruda was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute, Dino Dias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernão Arruda in the 61st minute of play forced Itajuby's goalkeeper Fabiano Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes into the game, Júlio Mendonça was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itajuby's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Saboia the free kick. When Fernão Arruda came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Saboia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernão Arruda couldn't finish the play. If Fernão Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the game, Itajuby's Kléberson Castro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Willian Trigo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After 77 played minutes Itajuby got a freekick which was hit by Renan Carneiro. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Eliézer Freire managed to get in a good position for a shot. Saboia's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliézer Freire was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabiano Figueiredo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kléberson Castro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 83 minutes into the match, Saboia's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardinho Barreto came free, but Willian Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute, Ricardinho Barreto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Itajuby fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Ricardinho Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 95 minutes into the game, Beto Moraes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Saboia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itajuby the free kick. In the 95th minute, Beto Moraes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Willian Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kléberson Castro in the 96th minute of the match. Itajuby's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
