After having played for 4 minutes, Durval Freitas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cotejipe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Durval Freitas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 15th minute Durval Freitas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Carlos de Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cotejipe's Thomás Passos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raúl Lucas in the 20th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Adriano Leal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cotejipe's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Direcao FC the free kick. Adriano Leal hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Thomás Passos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raúl Lucas's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. When Raúl Lucas came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Direcao FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raúl Lucas couldn't finish the play. Gildo Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Alex Pirani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Thomás Passos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Cotejipe getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Manfredo Rosa hit a great ball. After 40 played minutes Cotejipe got a freekick which was hit by João Augusto Vander. If Alex Pirani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adriano Leal kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Durval Freitas to make the kick off. Raúl Lucas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Thomás Passos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Cotejipe's zone, Alex Pirani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomás Passos came out of the goal and Alex Pirani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 60 minutes into the game, Nando de Barros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cotejipe's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Direcao FC the free kick. In the 63rd minute of the match, Nando de Barros tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Antônio Carlos de Lara saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 64th minute, Lúcio Peixoto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 66 minutes, Durval Freitas made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Direcao FC's Antônio Carlos de Lara tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 71 played minutes Cotejipe got a freekick which was hit by Gildo Leão. Raúl Lucas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 75th minute of the match Bebeto Hames sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thomás Passos skillfully saved the ball. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Antônio Carlos de Lara. When Cipriano Sabóia came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Cotejipe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cipriano Sabóia couldn't finish the play. 87 minutes into the match, Direcao FC's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos de Lara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cipriano Sabóia. After having played for 95 minutes, Alex Pirani managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Direcao FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alex Pirani was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Direcao FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Cotejipe's performance. The match ended with a win for Cotejipe.
