Clóvis Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Augusto Dante having to interfere. A collision led to Borgueto getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Osmar Donato hit a great ball. In the 13th match minute, Borgueto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osmar Donato to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 14 minutes, Cristóvão Vides managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Abertao EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristóvão Vides was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 17 played minutes Borgueto got a freekick which was hit by Wellington Macedo. Abertao EC's Anselmo Mineiro couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 18th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Borgueto. In the 23rd minute of the match Tião de Barros shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Augusto Dante showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Borgueto's goal looked a bit too open when Clóvis Lago came free, but Carlos Augusto Dante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Abertao EC booed when Borgueto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wellington Macedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute, Osmar Donato hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Abertao EC's Anselmo Mineiro tried to score from far away in the 32nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Osmar Donato hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clóvis Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jairo Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Borgueto's Osmar Donato got his second yellow card of the match in the 55th minute. The referee ordered Osmar Donato off the ground. Carlos Augusto Dante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristóvão Vides, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Abertao EC's Clóvis Lago in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Borgueto's goalie prevented a goal. 60 minutes into the game, Jairo Cavalcante was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Borgueto's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Abertao EC the free kick. In the 60th minute, Jairo Cavalcante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Jairo Cavalcante was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 78 minutes had been played. After 79 played minutes Borgueto got a freekick which was hit by Jairo Cavalcante. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristóvão Vides in the 81st minute of play forced Borgueto's goalkeeper Carlos Augusto Dante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Borgueto defense, Clóvis Lago kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Augusto Dante. The Borgueto fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Augusto Dante should have stopped the shot. In the 94th minute Cristóvão Vides shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Augusto Dante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Claudinei das Neves fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Borgueto's protests and gave Claudinei das Neves a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Abertao EC booed when Borgueto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinei das Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Abertao EC had played much better football throughout.
