The penalty shot was made by Alan Martins, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Araruama's Geovanni Messias. 0-1. 10 minutes into the game, Albertinho Nóbrega was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Araruama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Coto the free kick. In the 10th minute, Albertinho Nóbrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luiz Fabiano Mello's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ramiro Linares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Ramiro Linares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roger Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Geovanni Messias stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Erivaldo Vinhas's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. In the 26th minute, Anderson Correia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 31 played minutes Coto got a freekick which was hit by Glauco Lara. Roger Santos spun around in front of the goal 32 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Coto's goal. Carlos Trigo got in the 35th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Geovanni Messias handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Carlos Trigo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Geovanni Messias having to make a save. Erivaldo Vinhas scored 0-2 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Geovanni Messias, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Carlos Trigo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Geovanni Messias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Araruama players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Coto were winning 0-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Roger Santos to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Carlos Trigo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Geovanni Messias was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Carlos Trigo scored 0-5 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Geovanni Messias, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Trigo got free with Geovanni Messias in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Erivaldo Vinhas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Geovanni Messias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erivaldo Vinhas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 73 minutes into the match, Coto's Carlos Trigo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Geovanni Messias narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Erivaldo Vinhas was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 78th minute. Coto's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.
