In the 4thth minute of the game Elano Neves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vassoura's Agnaldo Veloso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Agnaldo Veloso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emerson Lucas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Vassoura's Emílio Barbosa threw himself towards the right post 10 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Aloísio Torres, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Emílio Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aloísio Torres in the 15th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elano Neves in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Agnaldo Veloso saved Vassoura from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Vassoura's Guto Brodel got a free kick in the 19th minute. If Elano Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 25 minutes into the match, PORTO's goal looked a bit too open when Aloísio Torres came free, but Emílio Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Vassoura booed when PORTO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augusto Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vassoura's Agnaldo Veloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emerson Lucas in the 29th minute of play. Mário Maciel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Emílio Barbosa made a huge save. Elano Neves succeeded in the game's 33rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emerson Lucas in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Agnaldo Veloso saved Vassoura from getting behind. A collision led to Vassoura getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Kiko Arce hit a great ball. If Emerson Lucas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 42 minutes, Faustão Varela mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vassoura and the PORTO players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 42nd match minute, Vassoura was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Faustão Varela to maneuver through the defense. Emerson Lucas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Vassoura players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. PORTO were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aloísio Torres to make the kick off. After 53rd play minutes Elano Neves shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Agnaldo Veloso and just under the crossbar into goal. 56 minutes into the match, Elano Neves dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Agnaldo Veloso, 0-3. In the 60thth minute of the game Emerson Lucas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vassoura's Agnaldo Veloso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Agnaldo Veloso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elano Neves's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. A hard shot 63 in the game by Elano Neves from a close distance when the talented Agnaldo Veloso managed to make a qualified save. Vassoura's players were relieved. In the 68th minute of the match, Elano Neves got a very nice opportunity to score, but Agnaldo Veloso was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 74 minutes, Emerson Lucas made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. Vassoura's Agnaldo Veloso tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Agnaldo Veloso was out of position in the 77 minute of play, and Emerson Lucas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Emerson Lucas really showed his touch with that goal: 0-6. In the 83rd minute, PORTO's Elano Neves ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Agnaldo Veloso. Agnaldo Veloso yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-7. The crowd rose to their feet as Emerson Lucas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Agnaldo Veloso. That made the score 0-8 in the 90 minute of play. In the 93rd of the match, Emerson Lucas tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Agnaldo Veloso got in the way and made a wonderful save. Emerson Lucas received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Agnaldo Veloso came out and tried to block the shot, but Emerson Lucas slotted it home off the left post making it 0-9 in the 95th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. PORTO had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
