Oswaldo de Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedrinho Miranda in the 12th minute of the match. Orlando Lira who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 14thth minute tested the skills of Oswaldo de Salles when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 19th minute, Baiaozinho's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Orlando Lira fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. When Hermínio Paraíba fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Baiaozinho's protests and gave Hermínio Paraíba a yellow card for diving instead. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half.
