Jano Severo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Meira, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. After having played for 15 minutes, Rubens Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Cedrense FSCMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubens Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 18 minutes into the game, Olindina's Emerson Furtado nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Delfim Monteiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Rubens Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Jano Severo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 23 minutes into the game, Guto Ferreira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Olindina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave União Cedrense FSCMZ the free kick. Rubens Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jano Severo having to interfere. Delfim Monteiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emerson Furtado in the 28th minute. After some careless play in the Olindina defense, Rubens Santos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jano Severo. The Olindina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jano Severo should have stopped the shot. In the 37th minute Rubens Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jano Severo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Fernando Meira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Jano Severo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gil Reis charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gil Reis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Olindina booed when União Cedrense FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tostão Barros stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Olindina's Emerson Furtado got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of União Cedrense FSCMZ booed when Olindina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clóvis Albuquerque didn't get a good kick on the ball. União Cedrense FSCMZ's Wilian Galvão couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 56th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Olindina. If Rubens Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 61 minutes into the game, José Valladares recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jano Severo. José Valladares showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rubens Santos in the 65th minute of play forced Olindina's goalkeeper Jano Severo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. União Cedrense FSCMZ's Rubens Santos was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 67th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. When the match was over União Cedrense FSCMZ could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Olindina throughout the match.
