Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edmundo Trigo ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Ezequiel Velloso sped through Irapua's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dedê Barros. Papuda FC's Serafim Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 13 minutes into the game, Emílio Arruda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Irapua's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Papuda FC the free kick. A collision led to Irapua getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Emílio Arruda hit a great ball. Serafim Leme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dedê Barros having to interfere. 18 minutes into the game, Breno de Mendonça was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Irapua's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Papuda FC the free kick. After 18 played minutes Irapua got a freekick which was hit by Breno de Mendonça. In the 21st minute, Serafim Leme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 25th match minute, Irapua was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrício Gaspar to maneuver through the defense. After 27 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Irapua! Osvaldo Costa walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Serafim Leme struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Dedê Barros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Papuda FC. Dedê Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serafim Leme, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 41st match minute, Papuda FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcinho de Queiroz to maneuver through the defense. Cléberson Mattos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmundo Trigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Dedê Barros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ezequiel Velloso's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. In the 58th match minute, Papuda FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serafim Leme to maneuver through the defense. Dedê Barros was out of position in the 60 minute of play, and Ezequiel Velloso capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ezequiel Velloso really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. During the 67th minute of the match Breno de Mendonça completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Breno de Mendonça a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 68 played minutes Irapua got a freekick which was hit by Breno de Mendonça. Serafim Leme's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dedê Barros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. When Emílio Arruda was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 71 minutes had been played. The supporters of Papuda FC booed when Irapua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emílio Arruda didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 72 minutes, Ezequiel Velloso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Papuda FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ezequiel Velloso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 73 minutes into the match, Papuda FC's Serafim Leme sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dedê Barros narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Papuda FC's Serafim Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cacá Barbosa hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Ezequiel Velloso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dedê Barros having to make a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ezequiel Velloso in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dedê Barros prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dedê Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ezequiel Velloso in the 80th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Serafim Leme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Papuda FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Serafim Leme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dedê Barros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Papuda FC's Ezequiel Velloso in the 88th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Dedê Barros was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Irapua through an amazing save. Ezequiel Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Serafim Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Papuda FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
