In the 11th play minute Albertinho Furtado came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Joaquim da Fonseca. 1-0. In the 16th minute Pedrinho Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim da Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 played minutes Itajiba got a freekick which was hit by Custódio de Azevedo. After a rather tough play, Itajiba's Róbson Meireles got a free kick in the 23rd minute. With a little luck, Itajiba's Joaquim da Fonseca got control of the ball when Albertinho Furtado tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Pedrinho Lima's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquim da Fonseca was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Pedrinho Lima received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Joaquim da Fonseca came out and tried to block the shot, but Pedrinho Lima slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 30th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 38th minute of the game. One of Itajiba:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Olímpico Manaus F.C.:s goal. Alfredão Fonseca shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 41st match minute, Itajiba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Luiz Mattos to maneuver through the defense. Joaquim da Fonseca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Albertinho Furtado in the 44th minute. 45 minutes into the match, Itajiba's goal looked a bit too open when Pedrinho Lima came free, but Joaquim da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Olímpico Manaus F.C.'s zone, Custódio de Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eduardo Penha came out of the goal and Custódio de Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

59 minutes into the match, Olímpico Manaus F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Luiz Mattos came free, but Eduardo Penha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Albertinho Furtado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim da Fonseca having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Ivo Viana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 67 minutes, Pedrinho Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olímpico Manaus F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedrinho Lima was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 69 minutes into the game, Pedro Luiz Mattos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Eduardo Penha. Pedro Luiz Mattos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Eduardo Penha made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Jaime de Andrade sent off a good shot on target. Albertinho Furtado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pedro Luiz Mattos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eduardo Penha having to make a save. Pedro Luiz Mattos might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eduardo Penha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pedro Luiz Mattos ran back to his position shaking his head. Eduardo Penha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Luiz Mattos, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime de Andrade got free with Eduardo Penha in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pedrinho Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim da Fonseca having to interfere. Joaquim da Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrinho Lima in the 99th minute of play.
