The referee ignored The Gazette's protests and gave Benedito Lopez a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to The Gazette getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Benedito Lopez hit a great ball. Luiz Fábio Bastos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benedito Arruda in the 11th minute of play. In the 18thth minute of the game José Paulo Paiva who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Salamanca SC's Luiz Fábio Bastos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Benedito Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Paulo Paiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If José Paulo Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Fábio Bastos didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when The Gazette's Benedito Arruda shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Ulysses Paranaense's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Júlio Martins read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Salamanca SC's Durval Nunes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Júlio Martins narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedito Arruda in the 35th minute of play forced Salamanca SC's goalkeeper Luiz Fábio Bastos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Paulo Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Fábio Bastos having to interfere. Albertinho Baiano's late challenge caught a The Gazette's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Albertinho Baiano helped the player get up and apologised. In the 39th match minute, Salamanca SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertinho Baiano to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, The Gazette's Tales Ribeiro tried to score from far away in the 40th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After having played for 42 minutes, Benedito Arruda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Gazette's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benedito Arruda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luiz Fábio Bastos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Benedito Arruda's shot from short distance in the 48th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Benedito Arruda made a kick off. Benedito Arruda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Fábio Bastos having to interfere. In the 54thth minute of the game Benedito Arruda who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Salamanca SC's Luiz Fábio Bastos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luiz Fábio Bastos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Benedito Arruda's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Luiz Fábio Bastos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedito Arruda in the 60th minute of the match. In the 61stth minute of the game Benedito Arruda who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Salamanca SC's Luiz Fábio Bastos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Durval Nunes might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Júlio Martins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Durval Nunes ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 77th match minute, The Gazette was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benedito Arruda to maneuver through the defense. Luiz Fábio Bastos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guto Marques, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Salamanca SC's Luiz Fábio Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedito Arruda in the 88th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Benedito Arruda ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luiz Fábio Bastos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. The Gazette were awarded a corner in the 95th minute after Salamanca SC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tales Ribeiro took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Tales Ribeiro got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Luiz Fábio Bastos quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
