With a left leg Armandinho Lago saved Carapicuíba FC from getting behind. Valdo Velasco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Carapicuíba FC booed when Corcovado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Augusto Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. 20 minutes into the game, Mané da Silva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carapicuíba FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Corcovado the free kick. After a rather tough play, Carapicuíba FC's Mané da Silva got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Carapicuíba FC's goalkeeper Armandinho Lago, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Zé Augusto Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgard Paulista missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 31 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Armandinho Lago right hand side. A collision led to Corcovado getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Renan de Barros hit a great ball. 36 minutes into the match, Corcovado's goal looked a bit too open when José Pedro Toledo came free, but Zézinho Soares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Armandinho Lago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdo Velasco in the 41st minute of play. Carlos Fernando Maia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zézinho Soares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. In the 49th minute the ball was on its way in behind Corcovado's goalkeeper Zézinho Soares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valdo Velasco to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, one of Carapicuíba FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Edgard Paulista walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Carlos Fernando Maia's late challenge caught a Corcovado's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Fernando Maia helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Carapicuíba FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 62nd minute. Penalty! Armandinho Lago took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Augusto Senna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Valdo Velasco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Armandinho Lago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edgard Paulista hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Aílton Cardozo was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 85th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Davi da Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. José Pedro Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Zézinho Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carapicuíba FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
