Maurício Gaspar took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 8th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Enrique de Carvalho. Apucaraninha's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Júlio Furlan was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 14th minute. Celeste SC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Luís Eduardo Vander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Enrique de Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. André Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel de Amorim in the 26th minute of play. Basílio Moreira hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Júlio Furlan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Júlio Furlan in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enrique de Carvalho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marcel de Amorim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sebastião Tande recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Luís Eduardo Vander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enrique de Carvalho having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Luís Eduardo Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot. Celeste SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Eduardo Vander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enrique de Carvalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Júlio Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joel Sarmento charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joel Sarmento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Celeste SC booed when Apucaraninha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joel Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 52nd match minute, Apucaraninha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardinho Corrêa to maneuver through the defense. 55 minutes into the game, Júlio Furlan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Celeste SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Apucaraninha the free kick. Júlio Furlan hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. André Maranhense came out of the goal and Marcel de Amorim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Enrique de Carvalho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Enrique de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Eduardo Vander in the 94th minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Adriano Faria was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Apucaraninha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Celeste SC the free kick. The supporters of Celeste SC booed when Apucaraninha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adriano Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. Celeste SC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
