With an all-out effort, Itapicuru SS's Celso Machado threw himself towards the right post 5 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Olívio Vargas, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 8 minutes, Raimundo Berger mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the RB Miguelense and the Itapicuru SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to RB Miguelense getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Raimundo Berger hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in RB Miguelense's zone, Olívio Vargas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Celso Machado came out of the goal and Olívio Vargas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Celso Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olívio Vargas in the 11th minute of the match. Raimundo Berger kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Jeremias Mesquita kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. When RB Miguelense's Paulinho Cerezo in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Itapicuru SS's goalie prevented a goal. Paulinho Cerezo struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Andrézinho Hoffmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RB Miguelense. 39 minutes into the match, Itapicuru SS's Christian Baiano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Celso Machado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Júlio Vargas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 48 minutes, Mathias Palmeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RB Miguelense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mathias Palmeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paulinho Cerezo was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulinho Cerezo in the 53rd minute of play forced Itapicuru SS's goalkeeper Andrézinho Hoffmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olívio Vargas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Christian Baiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celso Machado having to interfere. RB Miguelense's Celso Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Baiano in the 59th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Olívio Vargas in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Celso Machado saved RB Miguelense from getting behind. 73 minutes into the game, Christian Baiano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Celso Machado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Olívio Vargas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Celso Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Paulinho Cerezo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulinho Cerezo in the 87th minute of play forced Itapicuru SS's goalkeeper Andrézinho Hoffmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulinho Cerezo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andrézinho Hoffmann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. Paulinho Cerezo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Romário Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 97 minutes into the match, Itapicuru SS's goal looked a bit too open when Paulinho Cerezo came free, but Andrézinho Hoffmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. RB Miguelense's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
