Cauã Monteiro started the match with the kick off. When Mazinho Pirani fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SAPIRANGA E C's protests and gave Mazinho Pirani a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Firmamento booed when SAPIRANGA E C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mazinho Pirani didn't get a good kick on the ball. 柳适斐 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 12 played minutes Firmamento got a freekick which was hit by Christiano Freire. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Pål Sigman sped through Firmamento's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Clóvis Trevisan. Clóvis Trevisan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilson Moreno in the 20th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anísio Dias in the 24th minute of play forced SAPIRANGA E C's goalkeeper Fernandinho Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mazinho Pirani hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Karl-Ove Ivarsson hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute Wilson Moreno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clóvis Trevisan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 柳适斐 couldn't finish the play. Pål Sigman who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 37thth minute tested the skills of Clóvis Trevisan when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ulisses Donatello kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. After 44th play minutes Pål Sigman shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Clóvis Trevisan and just under the crossbar into goal. After 46 played minutes SAPIRANGA E C got a freekick which was hit by Jon-Ander Mac Rostie. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Roberto Mangueira during the 48th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Firmamento's Roberto Mangueira got a free kick in the 48th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Pål Sigman made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Wilson Moreno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clóvis Trevisan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Pål Sigman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Clóvis Trevisan was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. With a little luck, SAPIRANGA E C's Fernandinho Esteves got control of the ball when Roberto Mangueira tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Firmamento's Christiano Freire slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Fernandinho Esteves. That made the score 2-1 after 63 minutes of play. After some careless play in the Firmamento defense, Pål Sigman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Clóvis Trevisan. The Firmamento fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Clóvis Trevisan should have stopped the shot. Clóvis Trevisan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pål Sigman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When SAPIRANGA E C's Pål Sigman in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Firmamento's goalie prevented a goal. Fernandinho Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cauã Monteiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of SAPIRANGA E C booed when Firmamento was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilvan Veiga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Firmamento's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
