In the 6thth minute of the game Pål Sigman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Internacional's Dedê Sabóia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to SC Internacional getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Dorival Severo hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amílton Pinho in the 9th minute of play forced SAPIRANGA E C's goalkeeper Fernandinho Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amílton Pinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilson Moreno in the 13th minute of play forced SC Internacional's goalkeeper Dedê Sabóia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 14 minutes into the match, SC Internacional's goal looked a bit too open when Pål Sigman came free, but Dedê Sabóia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the SAPIRANGA E C defense, Amílton Pinho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernandinho Esteves. The SAPIRANGA E C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernandinho Esteves should have stopped the shot. 柳适斐 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dedê Sabóia having to interfere. SAPIRANGA E C's Pål Sigman got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 柳适斐 struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Dedê Sabóia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SAPIRANGA E C. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pål Sigman in the 40th minute of play forced SC Internacional's goalkeeper Dedê Sabóia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 44 minutes into the match, SC Internacional's goal looked a bit too open when Wilson Moreno came free, but Dedê Sabóia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dedê Sabóia was a little too slow when Fred Lopez got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 45th minute. The score was now 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pål Sigman to make the kick off. Dedê Sabóia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 柳适斐, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After a rather tough play, SC Internacional's Horácio Macedo got a free kick in the 55th minute. 56 minutes into the game, Isaltino Guedes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Internacional's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SAPIRANGA E C the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in SC Internacional's zone, Pål Sigman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dedê Sabóia came out of the goal and Pål Sigman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 58 played minutes SC Internacional got a freekick which was hit by Isaltino Guedes. The attack was good, but when Pål Sigman in the 62nd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amílton Pinho in the 64th minute of play forced SAPIRANGA E C's goalkeeper Fernandinho Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 柳适斐 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dedê Sabóia having to interfere. Fernandinho Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amílton Pinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fred Lopez during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, SAPIRANGA E C's Fred Lopez got a free kick in the 77th minute. Fernandinho Esteves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílton Pinho in the 82nd minute of play. Valdomiro Oliveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, SAPIRANGA E C's Fernandinho Esteves got control of the ball when Valdomiro Oliveira tried to sneak it across the goal line. There was no doubt that SAPIRANGA E C were the better team. SAPIRANGA E C's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
