In the 9th of the match, Maximiliano Demesio tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Giuseppe Brasil got in the way and made a wonderful save. Paulino Richie struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Giuseppe Brasil didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fluminense FC. 13 minutes into the match, Cafesal's goal looked a bit too open when Geovanni Fantini came free, but Giuseppe Brasil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paulino Richie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Giuseppe Brasil made a huge save. In the 22nd minute, Cafesal's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Maximiliano Demesio fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Rodrigo Vianna's late challenge caught a Fluminense FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Maximiliano Demesio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Giuseppe Brasil read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. After 33 minutes, Dida Guimarães mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fluminense FC and the Cafesal players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dida Guimarães hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Fluminense FC's Paulino Richie got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Giuseppe Brasil showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximiliano Demesio, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eduardo Rezende to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Fluminense FC's goalkeeper Manoel Sampaio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Telmo Coutinho. Cafesal's Giuseppe Brasil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulino Richie in the 81st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Paulino Richie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Giuseppe Brasil was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. Fluminense FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
