With an extended leg and a bit of luck Laerte dos Santos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vágner Koehler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Marquinhos Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alex Baiano struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Hílton Branco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vicentado SS. Wilson Eger kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. In the 39th minute of the match Cássio Mendonça sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Laerte dos Santos skillfully saved the ball. After a rather tough play, Santos's Juvenal de Lara got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 46th minute Marquinhos Cearense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laerte dos Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alex Baiano in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hílton Branco saved Santos from getting behind. Edson Arantes kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Vicentado SS's Tomé Leme got a free kick in the 72nd minute. In the 73rd minute, Vágner Koehler got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
