Murillo Luz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richard de Amorim in the 13th minute of the match. Murillo Luz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felippe Eger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fausto Zonta kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the game, Júnior da Fonseca cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Murillo Luz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 21st minute, Júnior da Fonseca made a precise shot to the right of Murillo Luz. Ajax's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. If Rodrigo Mazza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Júnior da Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Murillo Luz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute, one of Ajax:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ajax. After having played for 36 minutes, Hortêncio Braga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ajax's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hortêncio Braga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cipriano Amaral's late challenge caught a Ajax's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cipriano Amaral helped the player get up and apologised. 42 minutes into the game, Richard de Amorim cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Murillo Luz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luso Carioca's João Francisco de Medeiros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Luso Carioca from getting a goal against them. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

The wind increased when Júnior da Fonseca made the kick off in the second half. Murillo Luz was out of position in the 51 minute of play, and Júnior da Fonseca capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. João Francisco de Medeiros was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luso Carioca were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Ajax's much stronger midfield.
