To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Toninho Furtado's late challenge caught a Geriba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Toninho Furtado helped the player get up and apologised. Toninho Furtado hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Velho's Luiz Baiano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Velho from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo de Souza in the 97th minute of play forced Geriba's goalkeeper Alexandre Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Velho had won after a very even match.
