Luís Gustavo Esteves came out of the goal and Egídio de Souza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 43 minutes into the game, one of Araguaia SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Egídio de Souza struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Luís Gustavo Esteves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Teresina FC. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aleandro Correia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
