The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leopoldo Campidelis during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Leopoldo Campidelis hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Equipe Cão's Cléber Paraense slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Kléber Barral. That made the score 1-0 after 12 minutes of play. Abel Peixoto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Kléber Barral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cléber Paraense who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Kléber Barral when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Filipe Varela fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santos FC's protests and gave Filipe Varela a yellow card for diving instead. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Santos FC's goalkeeper Kléber Barral, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 26th minute, Abel Peixoto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Equipe Cão fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Dedê Barbosa struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Francisco Nascimento didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos FC. Kléber Barral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abel Peixoto in the 43rd minute of the match. Frédson Braga hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Luizinho Freitas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santos FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luizinho Freitas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Francisco Nascimento breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edu Mandrak kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dedê Barbosa was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Cléber Paraense managed to get in a good position for a shot. Equipe Cão's supporters rose to their feet, but Cléber Paraense was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kléber Barral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Santos FC's Tony Prado got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Equipe Cão's Francisco Nascimento proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Equipe Cão from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abel Peixoto in the 67th minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Kléber Barral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frédson Braga hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Abel Peixoto kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Frédson Braga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dedê Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Dedê Barbosa took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Francisco Nascimento to make any attempt to save it. Equipe Cão's Leopoldo Campidelis quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Filipe Varela, made in the 92nd minute of the game. 93 minutes into the game, Equipe Cão's Cléber Paraense nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kléber Barral made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Equipe Cão's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
