After 24 minutes of play, Peaky Blinders's César Saraiva made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Adolfo Gonçalves was left in no man's land by his defense there! 0-2 became the score in the 27th minute when André Luiz de Lima elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Ivo Diniz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dráusio de Azevedo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 31 minute of play. Peaky Blinders's César Saraiva got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 44 minutes into the match, André Luiz de Lima had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Adolfo Gonçalves. Iatoba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that André Luiz de Lima was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. In the 47th minute, Reynaldo Arruda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Peaky Blinders were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell André Luiz de Lima to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute César Saraiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adolfo Gonçalves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
